Keep it Up! Above Average Attics
Posted on Monday, June 25, 2012
Alongside closets, corners and nooks - attics are certainly
underestimated for their potential as quaint but useable space. While
they are mainly used for storing Christmas decor, seasonal clothing bins
and probably loads of miscellaneous and dusty bins and boxes, with a
little TLC they could become the perfect comfy and cozy area for guests
or even for a simple retreat.

{I love the exposed wood and the bright contrast of colors of the accents, adding great patterns and textures and even charm to the room. It almost has a bathhouse feel. Simply add the bed, hold the steam!}

Small Kitchens With Big Impact
Posted on Thursday, June 21, 2012
Many kitchens in the city are usually not only cramped but often lack sufficient storage space but with a little creativity and resourcefulness even the smallest kitchen can suit your everyday needs. Here are just a few examples of kitchens that help to keep me inspired to work on my own small kitchen.
I love using chalkboard paint and adding a small built in banquette with an octagon table gives this small kitchen a comfy, almost coffee house feel. I also love the multiple light fixtures.

I love how they used a bold, dark color for the wall paired with a dramatic chandelier.
What a great use of apple green accents throughout this kitchen. I especially like the doggy portraits.

While very woody for my taste, I appreciate that they used every space available for this kitchen. Did you spot that wall mural going on by the window? Details to the very end!

Me and the Hulk love this kitchen. What a bold choice to coat the kitchen in a high-gloss Granny Smith Apple green from the cabinets, the window shade to even the refrigerator!

Breaking Free of the Cubicle; Amazing Offices

While some companies might find blandness (and beigeness) to be an adequate work environment, there are some that are actually quite colorful and even fun! From sand floors and employee slides, these companies have offices that are creative, inspiring and are great examples of out-of-the-box design.

Pixar is another great example of creative and colorful designs. Being the epicenter of incredibly innovative and imaginative minds, it makes so much sense for them to be encased in such a stimulating environment.

White Mountain Office

This White Mountain Office was build 100 feet below ground out of anti-atomic shelter. While all 4,000 square feet was built for a Swedish data center, it feels to me to be more appropriate for villainous get togethers (see pic below).

Who says concrete floors are only meant for warehouses and patios? With a little paint and some decorative stenciling you can transform those cold, dreary floors into original works of art.

I can't help but heart this entire room. From the teal faux wood concrete floors, fire engine red stair railings, incredible concrete bathtub, to the black and white book wallpaper, I want this room for my very own.

I adore the vintage feel of this space. From the scripted floor, the crafted wood on the chair, to the decorative concrete blocks, this room is loaded with charm.

Inflatable Sofas That Will Blow You Away

Need a sofa in a hurry? These inflatable chesterfield sofas are here to the rescue!
Via OhGizmo
Portable and fancy, Blofield is a company that specializes in air furniture. Yes, blow-up goodies not meant for your bedroom. The company offers a small collection of one, two and three seater sofas, available in a handful of colors. They pieces have built in wheels, and comes with an electric pump that can provide seating in just five minutes. While I'm sure it is a great convenience and surely portable, I cannot expect it to be anymore comfortable than sitting on my old neighbors preserved, plastic covered couches. And with a price tag averaging £425.00 (approximately $700 US dollars) it had better have one amazing puncture repair kit.

Don't forget about these inflatable loveseats and side chairs, therefore completing the furniture ensemble.

Wednesday Craigslist Find: Inexpenseive MidCentury DayBed
Posted on Wednesday, June 6, 2012
From the natural wood stains, simplistic lines and to the beautifully crafted wooden legs, I have a huge soft spot in my hear for MidCentury furniture. So today while on my Wednesday Craigslist spree, you can imagine my excitement when I came upon this danish daybed on sale for a mere $650!
While I could forgo the floral pattern, new reupholstery and a fresh stain could easily be a simple and inexpensive solution, which would make this look like new. Considering a piece like this would easily sell for twice as much in a showroom, this is definitely a steal.
And check out the back. So sleek!

And another low back sofa, but has two hidden pull out sides.
How neat!
Blue is a lovely ubiquitous color. From the crispy baby blue skies to the navy blues of the ocean, blue has a natural way of coming across calm and relaxing, but adversely it can also come across slightly depressing and even overwhelming. It is for these reasons that I am a huge fan of the work down by designer Anthony Baratta. With an interior design career spanning over three decades, he has learned how to master the variations of the hue from contemporary living spaces to modern kitchens, giving them all a serene and even beachfront feel. By using bold colors alongside beautiful patterns and graphics, he can transform a room from simple to simply amazing as perfectly demonstrated in the pics below.
